Roses Woven Blanket – Vincent van Gogh
Details
This 100% cotton woven blanket features Vincent van Gogh's Roses (1890), a floral still life filled with pale blossoms, deep green leaves, expressive brushwork, and a fresh green background. Finished with multicolor fringed edges, it turns one of Van Gogh's late flower paintings into a textured fine-art throw.
Van Gogh painted Roses in May 1890, shortly before leaving Saint-Rémy. It belongs to a group of floral still lifes he produced during this period alongside paintings of roses and irises. The flowers that appear largely white today were originally pink. Over time, light-sensitive red pigments faded, changing the color relationship between the roses and the surrounding greens.
The woven cotton surface gives the painting a noticeably textile quality, with the layered greens, pale flowers, dark outlines, and loose movement of Van Gogh's brushwork carried through the weave. It's a quieter Van Gogh choice for people drawn to floral still lifes and the less predictable corners of his work.
