This 100% woven cotton blanket features Gustave Caillebotte’s 1877 painting Paris Street; Rainy Day, finished with colorful fringed edges and available in four sizes. One of Caillebotte’s best-known works, captures pedestrians crossing a broad Parisian intersection beneath umbrellas, surrounded by the newly built streets and architecture that transformed the city during the 19th century.

Caillebotte painted Paris Street; Rainy Day during a period when the streets of Paris were being dramatically reshaped. He approached the modern city with unusually precise perspective and sharply defined figures, while the cropped pedestrians, asymmetrical composition, and expansive street give the scene an almost photographic immediacy. Rain-darkened pavement, muted tones, fashionable pedestrians, and the expansive city streets create a distinctive portrait of modern Parisian life. Exhibited at the Third Impressionist Exhibition in 1877, the painting reflects Caillebotte’s distinctive approach to Impressionism and his fascination with the rapidly changing urban landscape of Paris, and is now in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
