Lilies Woven Blanket by Katsushika Hokusai | Japanese Botanical Art
Details
This 100% cotton woven blanket features Lilies by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, an early-1830s woodblock print from the untitled group commonly known as the Large Flowers series. The botanical composition brings one of Hokusai's distinctive floral studies into a woven art throw finished with colorful fringed edges.
Created during Japan's Edo period, Lilies studies the flowers at several stages of bloom against a simple background. Hokusai used expressive, brush-like outlines alongside areas of green, black, and delicate pink to shape the stems, leaves, petals, and stamens. The close view gives the flowers a strong sense of movement while keeping the composition remarkably spare. Museum collections date surviving impressions of the work to the early 1830s.
Woven from 100% cotton, the blanket translates the floral artwork into a textured textile with multicolored fringe created along the edges. It is available in four sizes, giving you options for different spaces while keeping Hokusai's lilies at the center of the design.
