This 100% cotton woven blanket features Georges Seurat’s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, his landmark 1884–1886 painting of Parisians gathered along the Seine. Finished with colorful fringed edges, the blanket translates one of the defining works of Neo-Impressionism into a textured fine-art throw.

The painting, titled A Sunday on La Grande Jatte—1884 by the Art Institute of Chicago, depicts people strolling, sitting beneath trees, sailing, fishing, and spending a Sunday on the island of La Grande Jatte just outside Paris. Seurat constructed the scene with a highly deliberate approach to color, placing small touches of contrasting hues beside one another so they visually interact when seen from a distance. The method became closely associated with Pointillism.

First exhibited in 1886 at the eighth and final Impressionist exhibition, La Grande Jatte helped establish the new direction that became known as Neo-Impressionism. Its carefully ordered figures, luminous color, and unusually still vision of modern Parisian life made it Seurat’s best-known work and remains one of the most recognizable paintings of late 19th-century French art.

The woven cotton construction gives the image a visible textile texture, with multicolored fringe framing the design. It is available in four sizes, from a smaller decorative throw to larger formats that give the composition more room to show.
