Camomile Woven Blanket – Elizabeth Blackwell, A Curious Herbal
Details
This 100% cotton woven blanket features Camomile, Plate 298 from Volume II of Elizabeth Blackwell's A Curious Herbal, published in 1739. The 18th-century botanical illustration depicts the camomile plant with finely divided foliage, slender stems, exposed roots, buds, and daisy-like flower heads, bringing the detail of Blackwell's historical botanical art into a woven textile.
A Curious Herbal was published in two volumes between 1737 and 1739 and brought together 500 illustrated plants used in the practice of medicine at the time. Blackwell drew, engraved, and colored the plates herself, working from botanical specimens. Her Camomile illustration combines close observation with the fine linework and softly aged character associated with an antique botanical print.
Woven from 100% cotton and finished with colorful fringed edges, the blanket is soft, breathable, and durable for everyday use. The warm paper tones and natural botanical detail make it an especially good fit for people drawn to vintage botanical art, historical illustration, and anyone who loves plants, herbs, and flowers.
