This 100% cotton woven blanket features Paul Cézanne’s The Basket of Apples, the c. 1893 Post-Impressionist still life known for its shifting perspective, substantial forms, and deliberately unsettled tabletop composition, transforms an arrangement of everyday objects into a study of color, form, balance, and perspective. Finished with colorful fringed edges and available in four sizes, it turns one of Cézanne’s best-known still lifes into a textured piece of fine art home decor.

Cézanne arranged a tipped basket of apples across a tabletop alongside a dark bottle, a plate of small pastries, and folds of white cloth. Rather than depicting the scene from a single realistic viewpoint, Cézanne deliberately shifts the angles throughout the composition. The tabletop appears to tilt in different directions, objects seem to be viewed from slightly different angles, and the basket and bottle appear almost precariously balanced. Rich, layered brushwork and glowing color give the fruit and fabric a substantial, sculptural quality while the unconventional perspective creates a sense of movement within an otherwise traditional still life. Created during a period when Cézanne was increasingly challenging traditional approaches to representing space, The Basket of Apples reflects the experiments with structure and multiple viewpoints that would make his work profoundly influential on the development of modern art.
