This 100% cotton woven blanket features Alphonse Mucha's Zodiaque (“La Plume”), also known as Zodiac, one of the artist's best-known Art Nouveau designs. The composition centers on an elegant woman in profile, surrounded by flowing hair, elaborate jewelry, botanical ornament, and a halo-like disk containing the twelve signs of the zodiac. Colorful fringed edges complement the woven construction and the richly decorative character of the artwork.

Mucha originally created Zodiac in 1896 as an in-house calendar for the Paris printer F. Champenois. The design soon caught the attention of Léon Deschamps, editor of the arts journal La Plume, who acquired the rights to distribute it as the magazine's calendar for 1897. It became one of Mucha's most popular designs, with several variations produced. The version represented here is based on the 1896–97 Zodiaque (“La Plume”) color lithograph held by the Art Institute of Chicago.

Mucha's profile portrait, ornamental linework, botanical forms, and circular zodiac motif translate especially well to the texture of a woven textile. The blanket is soft, breathable, and durable, with the artwork extending across the surface and a multicolored fringe finishing the edges.
