This 100% cotton woven blanket features Orchidae (Orchids), Plate 74 from Ernst Haeckel’s Kunstformen der Natur (Art Forms in Nature), published in complete form in 1904. The botanical composition brings together an array of orchids in shades of white, pink, yellow, green, and deep burgundy, with their elaborate petals and distinctive forms arranged against a muted background.

Haeckel was a German naturalist, biologist, and artist known for bringing scientific observation and visual design together. Orchidae was produced as a color lithographic plate, part of the 100-plate Kunstformen der Natur series that became influential in the decorative arts and later Art Nouveau. The orchids are presented as both biological specimens and striking visual forms, drawing attention to their symmetry, markings, and remarkable variety.

Rendered on woven cotton, the design retains the detailed character of Haeckel’s botanical illustration while gaining the visible texture of the weave. Colorful fringed edges finish the blanket, and the 100% cotton construction is soft, breathable, and durable for regular use.
