Leontodon Taraxacum (Dandelion) is an 18th-century botanical illustration from William Curtis's Flora Londinensis, an ambitious work documenting plants growing wild in and around London. Drawn and engraved by Irish artist William Kilburn (1745–1818), this hand-colored plate captures the common dandelion with the remarkable precision characteristic of early botanical art.
The illustration presents the plant from root to flower, surrounded by its deeply divided green leaves and slender stems. Bright yellow flower heads appear alongside closed and spent blooms and a fully developed white seed head, documenting multiple stages of the dandelion's growth in a single composition. Smaller botanical studies beneath the main specimen provide additional details of the plant's structure.
