This 100% cotton botanical woven blanket features Pierre-Joseph Redouté’s Amaryllis formosissima from Les Liliacées, his early 19th-century series devoted to flowering plants. The striking botanical illustration centers a scarlet-red bloom above long green leaves, with the bulb and roots included as part of the study.

Redouté’s Amaryllis formosissima was produced as a color stipple engraving finished by hand and published as part of Les Liliacées in Paris. The flower appears under its historical botanical name in the artwork. Today, the species is accepted as Zephyranthes formosissima, a flowering bulb native to Mexico; Sprekelia formosissima is also a botanical synonym. It is commonly known as the Aztec lily or Jacobean lily or St. James lily.

The 100% cotton woven construction gives Redouté’s crimson, green, cream, and earthy tones a textured textile quality, while colorful fringed edges complete the blanket.
